JUVENILE DELINQUENCY

The Circuit Court also has jurisdiction over all cases in which a juvenile is accused of committing a delinquent act of violation of the law. A delinquent complaint is filed by law enforcement officials when a juvenile commits a felony or misdemeanor offense. The juvenile may or may not be arrested.
Pursuant to FS.985.04, all juvenile records are confidential. However, with proper picture identification the case may be reviewed by the parent, legal guardian and/or child. Court appointed and private attorneys also have access to the court files only if they have filed their notice of appearance in the particular case.
Our department refrains from giving information over the telephone, as we are uncertain who exactly may be calling. Again, these records are confidential, and we recommend the party to come in our office with proper picture identification in order for us to pull the court file.
Juvenile Court is held on Wednesdays at 9:00 am before the Honorable Judge Adrian Soud. Court sessions are closed to the public. Please call Department of Juvenile Justice at 904-548-9313 for dates and times of any special hearings.
Court Appearance
Once a court date has been set on a felony case the Clerk's Office cannot change it. If there is a problem you will need to contact your attorney.
Failure to Appear In Court
A warrant may be issued for your arrest and any bond that you have posted may be forfeited when you fail to appear for court. If you are arrested because of a Failure to Appear warrant, you may be held in jail without bond.
No children are allowed in the court room. Proper attire is required; no shorts allowed.
Identity Theft
The Clerk of Court does not have the authority to change names on original court records. The Office of the State Attorney should be contacted, at (904) 548-4700, if you suspect someone is using your name.
Sealing or Expunging
The packet containing instructions and forms needed to file a petition to seal or expunge a case can be obtained from the Criminal Customer Service Department. For further information please call 904-548-4613.
