|Yulee, FL – August 27, 2014 – Nassau County Clerk of Court & Comptroller, John A. Crawford, accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Friday, August 22nd at the Robert M. Foster Justice Center located in Yulee, Florida. The challenge was issued by his Chief Deputy of Information Technology, Mitchell Keiter.
When hearing of the challenge, Clerk Crawford immediately responded with, “I’m all in.”
The Clerk then invited his staff to participate in this challenge by way of donations. He pledged to allow one bucket of ice water to be poured on him for every fifty dollars donated. His staff overwhelmed him with their support and generosity. As a result, a total of ten ice water buckets were then poured on the Clerk.
The proceeds from this challenge were equally distributed between the Florida ALS Chapter and the American Cancer Society, which was chosen in honor of an employee who recently lost her battle with cancer. “I didn't hesitate because it’s all for a good cause. I've never seen anything like it and it is just amazing how people came together to support this great cause,” commented John A. Crawford, Clerk of Courts & Comptroller.
